Dominic Cooper, Thandie Newton, and Chiwetel Ejoifor are all locks for writer/director Biyi Bandele’s film about the lives of four people swept up in the turbulence of war.

The 34-year-old Irish actor, who is starring opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in Christopher Nolan’s new flick, will start filming the new feature later this year in Wales.

He will play the husband of Thandie Newton’s character in the movie, which has already seen Sony Pictures take its UK rights.

According to movie website Deadline, the pair will play a married couple who rent an isolated island cottage to try and repair their marriage.

But one day they find a man in a biohazard suit washed up on the shore near their house and he tells them that everybody on the mainland has been killed by a virus.

Perhaps he hasn’t gotten the “great news, we’re expecting” memo from Mimi yet, but one thing he could confirm is that Thandie Newton is going to replace Mariah in the Tyler Perry flick. “Thandie Newton is now doing it…Thandie has joined the cast,” he said.

The film, to be directed by newcomer Carl Tibbetts, follows a couple (played by Newton and Isaacs) who are seeking to rebuild their relationship by taking time out on a remote island but their peace is shattered when they find a man in military uniform (Tennant) half-dead on their doorstep who tells them there is a lethal virus killing millions on the mainland.

Tibbetts co-wrote the script with Janice Hallett and shooting is due to begin in May in Canada.

Magnet Films producer Gary Sinyor said: “It reminded me of Dead Calm when I first read it. Only better. It’s got a similar sexual tension but the battle of wits between the characters and plot twists are constantly surprising. We’re delighted to have secured three of the UK’s most powerful actors.”

It is UK based Magnet Film’s first foray into thrillers, following romantic comedy In Your Dreams, rock and roll adventure The Story Of _ and football documentary In The Hands Of The Gods.

While doing press for Friday’s Tyler Perry release I Can Do Bad All By Myself, Perry gave some details about how he’s going to adapt the play. The characters have been placed in a Crash-like story device where their lives will intertwine even if the characters don’t know it. One character will start a clinic for colored girls, which will also provide an ample stage for the monologues and stories from the play.

Perry also teased that his version of For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf would have a “dream cast” of Black and possibly Latina women. To the general press, he said that had made six phone calls thus far and all six actresses contacted were excited to be involved.

Apparently, Wilson Morales of Black Voices, got slightly more information:

Well, while promoting his latest film, ‘I Can Do Bad All By Myself,’ which opens Sept. 11, Perry talked about who he wanted to appear in the movie. Among the chosen few are Oscar winner Halle Berry, Angela Bassett, Ruby Dee, Cicely Tyson, Maya Angelou, Oprah Winfrey, Thandie Newton, Kimberly Elise, Beyonce Knowles, Mariah Carey and Alicia Keys.

I can’t think of anyone on that list who would turn down a chance to talk to the middle class Black audience Perry commands, so I can’t narrow it down at all. When Perry was about to hint further, Lionsgate very kindly told us there would be another press announcement coming up.
